Des espaces autres

An audio ecosystem is a living, sounding, three-dimensional system composed of sound components that depend on one another, mutually support, hinder, and change one another, and are, at the same time, influenced by other resources. A project group at the Hochschule Furtwangen, inspired by Italian composer Agostino di Scipio’s ecosystem-based composition concept, modeled a complex ecosystem from spatial, interacting sounds and linked it with the ZKM software “Zirkonium.” Although like every natural ecosystem it can be influenced, it cannot be controlled, but instead, follows its own sound paths, remaining unpredictable and incapable of monopolization.

Joining the fragile sound space is another space that the members of the Tanztheater Pforzheim bring to life with dance scenes based on motifs from “Orfeo ed Euridice.” Sensor-controlled interventions by the dancers connect their space of movement with the sounding ecosystem. The spaces penetrate each other without merging. They are independent, movable, fleeting appearances that contrast the permanent Cartesian firmness of the Cube, and the Klangdom located within.
