Tempel Dance Festival 2010
Wed, November 17, 2010 – Sun, November 21, 2010, Festival
Contemporary dance in its most diverse form is offered by the successful international dance festival of the Karlsruhe cultural organization Tempel, already in its tenth edition. In cooperation with ZKM, the dance festival will grow beyond the borders of the Tempel grounds: four of the festival evenings will take place in the ZKM_Media Theater. In his piece "Maanschaduw," Dutch choreographer David Middendorp tells the story of a princess who on an adventurous journey finds her lost shadow. The special magic of this choreography arises through a mixture of dance, computer animation, and live music. Johannes Wieland and his celebrated New York Company, already a festival highlight last year, take up provocative themes on two evenings of the festival: "Roadkill" questions the extent to which it is possible to control one’s own life or if it simply passes us by, while "Progressive Coma" casts a critical glance at the power of images in the media. Young people, seniors, professional dancers, and amateurs—the dance project of the Theater Heilbronn brings all generations on stage with the piece "ZeitspannenD." The "danced stories" worked out together with dance teacher Nadja Raszewski, oppose diverse life environments in dance and sound out differences and commonalities.
