The Förderverein Hospiz Ettlingen e. V. and the ZKM | Karlsruhe cordially invite guests to the benefit concert "Classic & Jazz". Concert contributions by the newly founded chamber orchestra "Camerata" from Ettlingen, the pianist Claudia Klinkenberg, violinist Bernd Mayer-Ullmann and the Jazz choir Ettlingen together with Wolfgang Klockewitz may be experienced. The proceeds collected at the end will be donated to Hospiz Arista.
In 2011, the violinist Bernd Mayer-Ullmann, Claudia Klinkenberg and experienced orchestra musicians founded the Camerata Ettlingen with the aim of performing sophisticated Baroque music once or twice a year. Bernd Mayer-Ullmann has been violin and viola teacher at the Ettlingen Music School since one year after the Camerata’s founding in 1980. He is member of the Syringa String Quartet, which frequently performs concerts in the region. He has been concert master of the Sinfonieorchester Ettlingen e.V. since 1991; the orchestra gives concerts twice a year in Ettling City Hall with programs in classic and romantic music by Judith Mammel. Bernd Mayer-Ullmann has been playing music for many years with diverse ensembles at church music performances, such as oratories and cantatas dating from the Baroque epoch.
In her programs, the internationally renowned pianist Claudia Klinkenberg combines old music, classical music, world-music, jazz and pop. She gives above all solo performances, but also cooperates with orchestras, ensembles and singers. She makes guest appearances in several German cities (predominantly in Munich, Stuttgart, Bonn), in major European cities (for the most part in Milan, Paris, Vienna) and throughout the world (Los Angeles, Neu Delhi etc.). Claudia Klinkenberg has diverse radio and television appearances both in Germany and abroad. Her CD recordings range from rousing rhythmic world-music to crystal clear Mozart and Jazz. Critics highlight the beauty of the sound and the deep spiritual expression of her interpretations.
From the choir association and under the direction of choirmaster Wolfgang Klockewitz, she formed the jazz choir Ettlingen in 1995. Today, active members are about 40 persons. In addition, noteworthy musicians ensure swinging musical support. The repertoire embraces the jazz of Swing, Latin through to classic music. Many works were specially arranged or composed for the choir by Wolfgang Klockewitz. In addition to the appearances in concerts, CDs are regularly produced, such as: Christmas goes Jazz (2005) and Classic goes Jazz (2009). Among others, the jazz choir has been engaged for the Hospiz Arista on several occasions in unforgettable performances with the step dance association "fun tappers".
