This year, the Media Museum is focusing entirely on sound. The exhibition »Sound Art. Sound as Medium of Art« gives a journey through the history of sound art during which visitors may themselves generate sound. »Dieter Meier. Works 1969–2011 and the YELLO Years« presents the work of Zurich artist and YELLO musician Dieter Meier, including his activities as director of film and videoclips. In »The State of Image. The Media Pioneers Zbigniew Rybczyński and Gábor Bódy«, you can discover the work of filmmaker Gábor Bódy and Oscar winner Zbigniew Rybczyński. On the occasion of the KAMUNA, special guided tours and workshops are to be held which together convey a unique impression of the exhibition. The ZKM forecourt is transformed into an Openair Soundpark with metallophone and gigantic orchestra. In the children’s concert »Der Kubus geht baden« [The Cube Goes Swimming], the little musicians are the center of attention, whereas, in the concert »With Ludger Brümmer in the Soundpool«, the director of the Institute of Music and Acoustics personally sets the tone.

At the ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art you will encounter performativity as a theme: the exhibition »Franz Erhard Walther. Space Through Action«, presents the complete group of works “Schreitbahnen” for the first time, as well as a selection of the artist’s earlier photographs and drawings. The shows »Ivan Factor. First Program«, «Józef Robakowski. The Handshake« portray the pioneer role that the three artists occupied in art developments in the twentieth century. »the name is BURROUGHS − Expanded Media« presents the literary and artistic work of North American author William S. Burroughs. The exhibition »The Hirsch–Index. The Art of Quotation« deals with the question of artistic quotation.

The interactive poetry machine »Reimbox«, especially prepared for the KAMUNA, invites visitors, to produce poetry with it. Author and actor Joerg Bitterich reads from William S. Burroughs’ work »Praxis Dr. Benway – Instructions for Total Emergency«. The legendary Museum Rally for children will also be taking place once again.
