“Shaping the future—facilitating ZKM and HfG” has been the goal of the Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Kunst und Medientechnologie for more than twenty years.
The development fund was founded by involved citizens and public figures in 1988, one year before the actual founding of the ZKM. With their contributions, the 400-plus members support young artists at the ZKM and students of the HfG Karlsruhe. The annual awarding of scholarships presents the ceremonial highlight of funding activities.
In 2012, the Gunther-Schroff-Grant (5.000€) will be awarded for the 19th time – this time to Martha Schwindling and eight students from “HfG Online-Shop, don't know what it is, but I want to have it” (Prof. Pfeffer, Communication Design). Furthermore, the results of the Heinrich-Klotz-Grant (10.000€) for the ideas competition regarding the remodelling of the ZKM_Foyer and restaurant will be presented to members.
Supporting the Karlsruhe “beacons” ZKM and HfG ideologically and materially and thereby anchoring them solidly in awareness in Karlsruhe and far beyond are declared goals of the foundation. Benefits for members of the Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Kunst, among others, include special exhibition tours, invitations to exclusive events, and free use of the ZKM_VIP Lounge, in addition to special discounts on admission and publications.
