Open House 2013
Sun, January 06, 2013 10 am CET, Celebration

In keeping with tradition, the ZKM | Karlsruhe will also be opening its gates in 2013 on epiphany, 6 January! Visitors are cordially invited from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. to glance behind the scenes of an exciting program. With free admission to all museums, as well as to events and guided tours, young and old have the opportunity to participate in a range of actions. Whoever wishes to explore the ZKM for himself should be sure not to miss the legendary museum’s rally.
Whoever wishes to take a closer look should participate in the special tours through the concealed corners of the ZKM | Karlsruhe that otherwise remain closed. Among others, the path leads to the press department, the studio of the Laboratory for Antiquated Video Systems as well as to the music studio of the Institute for Music and Acoustics.

The thematic emphasis of the open day 2013 is placed on the installation “resonate”. With concerts and workshops all about functionality, the exhibition of the fascinating light and sound installation can be seen for the last time. This year, a further highpoint will be “Das Logbuch der Gisela [The log book of Gisela]” by Pia Matthes: an over-sized pop-up picture book with a pirate story. The little visitors may also design their own pop-up cards in a workshop. The IMA | Kid’s Concert at the Cube is also designed for a younger public. The presentation “40+4 Art is Not Enough! Not enough!” in the ZKM Panorama Laboratory provides an initial glance into the up-and-coming large-scale video exhibition “Move on Asia. Video art from Asia 2002 to 2012” in the Media Museum.

The ZKM | Karlsruhe looks forward to numerous interested visitors, and to the curious looks during the exploration through the ZKM.
