Seven people are making music
Fri, September 20, 2013 – Sun, September 22, 2013, Festival
On the occasion of its ten-year anniversary, this year’s members of the IEMA will perform entirely new compositions as well as key works of contemporary music: in addition to the new works by, among others, Brigitta Muntendorf and Benjamin Scheurer, the musicians will also hold passionate and dynamic performances of classics by Karlheinz Stockhausen, Earle Brown, Hanns Eisler or Luigi Nono. In an intermediate stage, special works of art music from the more recent past will also be presented (Bauckholt, Huber, Zorn).

With its International Ensemble Modern Acadamy (IEMA) in the form of "Memory of Modern Music", the Frankfurter Ensemble Modern − one of the best ensembles for contemporary music in the world − provides young musicians and composers with the opportunity to gather important experiences for their later careers under the directorship of a professional musician.

With its long-year cooperation with the IEMA, the ZKM | Institute of Music and Acoustics follows through with its responsibility to support young talents, and thus to offer space for the emergence of tomorrow’s music.
