Die weiße Platane [The white plane tree]

Already presented at the 22nd Turkish-German Film Festival in Nuremburg in March 2017, the documentary film »Die weiße Platane« will now be shown at the ZKM on May 18. Following the screening, there will be a discussion with director Kazim Öz.

In a mountain village in the Dersim province of south-east Turkey lives the almost 100-year-old Kurd Zeynel Kahraman. He is the master of many arts, including music, instrument building, prose, stone carving, whittling, animal farming and beekeeping. The stone houses that he built in Dersim still stand today. »Die Weiße Platane« follows the young foremen who are continuing the legacy of »Zeynel Dede«, giving a glimpse into their family relationships as well as their passion and joy.
