On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the »Universal Declaration of Human Rights« Amnesty International Karlsruhe and ZKM invite you to a Long Reading Night.

»All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights« – Regardless of origin, gender, religion or social status, the first sentence of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights assures all human beings worldwide the same rights and freedoms.

Human rights are innate, inalienable, universal and indivisible. Their adoption with the »Universal Declaration of Human Rights« on December 10, 1948 was a historic moment.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of human rights, celebrities such as Dr. Frank Mentrup, Lord Mayor of the City of Karlsruhe, Christiane Riedel, Managing Director of the ZKM, actors from the Baden State Theater and other guests read from selected works. Amnesty was also able to win the writer and poet Safiye Can for the evening – she reads from her own works.
