The author and art critic Adrienne Braun reads from »Artist, rebel, pioneer – 20 extraordinary women from Baden-Württemberg«

It wasn't appropriate, yet between Mannheim and Constance, Freiburg and Ulm there were always women who were stubborn, clever, or passionate enough to achieve something extraordinary – whether as painters, bestselling authors, or millionaires. The Stuttgart cultural journalist Adrienne Braun tells in entertaining portraits of women who are worth noting – such as the scissor tailor Christiane Luise Duttenhofer or the prominent cookbook author Friederike Luise Löffler, the Jewish high jumper Gretel Bergmann, who Hitler misused as a decoy, or the soprano Anneliese Rothenberger, who could only overcome a childhood trauma thanks to music.

Adrienne Braun is a freelance author, art critic and presenter in Stuttgart and writes for the ART-Magazin, the Süddeutsche Zeitung and above all for the Stuttgarter Zeitung and Stuttgarter Nachrichten. With her columns appearing there, she also travels on stages. She has published several books on artist relationships, Stuttgart, famous women from Baden-Württemberg and their columns (»Von den Niederungen des Seins oder Tutti Bikini capta sunt«).
