Young people from Budapest, Dijon and Karlsruhe show their view on Europe and the European identity.
The debate about European identity could not be more urgent today. Tendencies from the right, populist statements and attitudes endanger the idea of a united Europe. This makes it all the more important for young people not only to deal with these issues, but also to bring European identity to the fore.
With the Lionsclub Karlsruhe and the Bismarck-Gymnasium Karlsruhe, as well as the cities of Dijon and Budapest, the ZKM has initiated a project that invites students to engage artistically with this topic. Young people from Budapest, Dijon and Karlsruhe are currently showing their interpretation of the European idea on the Instagram account young_europe. This virtual exchange will now be followed by the analogue meeting in Karlsruhe.
Already on Tuesday, May 7, the pupils will come together to create light pictures and projections in the evening at the Platz der Grundrechte as part of a creative warm-up. On Wednesday, May 8, the results of the workshop will be shown at 4:30 pm in the exhibition »Open Codes«, where the »European Thought Architecture« will be presented to public.
