Right on time for the ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art's 10-year anniversary, the light installation »In alto« by Italian artist Chiara Dynys will shine on several trees on the grounds surrounding the ZKM. At dusk in the winter months, light rings will glow from numerous tree tops, looking like halos over the trees.
The artist is concerned, on the one hand, with marking the trees as a part of nature whose photosynthesis offers a significant contribution to human existence, and in which it is often possible to read the decline of the global ecosystem. On the other hand, with her installation she aims for a form of animism that is sometimes not only found within society, but which simultaneously also mirrors society.
