Students of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Stuttgart present residential book towers for Peter Weibel
Tue, July 31, 2018 – Sun, August 05, 2018

How can Peter Weibel's special concept of living be translated into architecture? How can answers for the living and life diversity of modern urbanauts in the digital age look like? From July 31 to August 5, 2018, students of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Stuttgart at the Institute for Housing and Design will present their reflections on this topic at the ZKM.

The seemingly harmless architecture of an apartment is a mirror of complex social conditions. (...) I want an apartment according to my own needs, not an old-fashioned apartment according to the needs and lifestyles of the 19th century. Most apartment layouts are based on conventional and traditional social clichés.

Peter Weibel, Artistic-scientific Chairman, CEO of the ZKM

Unconventional designs are being developed for the unique sphere of knowledge of the solitary scholar Peter Weibel and for the complex world of a modern Nerd flat sharing comunity in Vienna. Both scenarios renegotiate the boundaries between private and public and between living, working and leisure.
