Mark Amerika’s works have been exhibited internationally, such as at the Whitney Biennial of American Art; the artist has presented his oeuvre at the Denver Art Museum, the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, and the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis. His most comprehensive retrospective to date entitled UNREALTIME was organized by the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens 2009–2010.
His works are invariably characterized by a crossover of media, image and word. He is author of several books, such as remixthebook (University of Minnesota Press, 2011), as well as his anthology of artists’ writings entitled META/DATA: A Digital Poetics (The MIT Press, 2007). One of his most recent large-scale projects is the Museum of Glitch Aesthetics, a work commissioned by the Abandon Normal Devices Festival in collaboration with the Olympic Summer Games, London 2012. Amerika is professor of art and art history at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
