Description
With the joint project »Three Rooms« the ZKM, the Nam June Paik Art Center in Yongin, South Korea and the Chronus Art Center in Shanghai, China are supporting young media artists. After stops in Yongin and Shanghai, three artists presented their works at the ZKM in Karlsruhe.
The exhibition »Edge of Now« contributes to current discussions about contemporary technologies and their use in the works of a young generation of media artists.
In the exhibition, works of the Korean artist Kim Heecheon, the Chinese artist Yang Jian and the German artist Verena Friedrich will be presented. Selected thorough a screening progress and recommended by an international jury of experts of media art, the artists present new sensibilities and new perspectives on our world, rapidly changing with the development of new technologies.
The exhibition was first launched with the three selected artists at Nam June Paik Art Center in Yongin, Korea in the summer of 2018, followed by an exhibition at Chronus Art Center in Shanghai, China from November 2018 to January 2019. The program is designed to support emerging artists through exhibitions and public programs, promoting young artists’ experimentation and practice to gradually construct a systematic archive of media art in Germany, Korea and China.
