Prof. Dr. Klaus Martin Wegener is professor at the Institute for Applied Physics at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) and head of the DFG Center for Functional Nanostructures (CFN) in Karlsruhe. He studied physics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt/M., where he received his PhD in 1987. Er worked as scientific assistant at the University of Karlsruhe and as Postdoc at the AT+T Bell Laboratories, USA. From 1990 to 1995 he hold the chair for Experimental Solid State Physics at University of Dortmund, accepted the chair offered at the University of Karlsruhe in 1995.
Klaus Martin Wegener received an research award from the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Foundation, the Teaching Award of the State Baden-Württemberg 1998 and the Leibniz-Award, Research Award of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft 2000.
