Description
Content
A documentation of the panel discussion organized by the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe (ZKM) and the Centre Culturel Français Karlsruhe (CCF), which took place on 3 May 2000 in the media theatre of the ZKM.
»For centuries the body was a theatre of anatomy, virology, immunology, molecular medicine and especially genetic engineering - the human body was transformed into a thermodynamic factory. The science of man became a wall whose building blocks have been transformed and renewed by medical progress. What has been shaken in this transformation of the foundations of the human image is the perception of a specific world view, namely humanism. On the basis of new medical research results, the discussion should open up new perspectives for the science of mankind.«
