Description

The keywords of »Digitalization« are everywhere in 2017. Whether they accuse us of lagging behind when it comes to our students' internet competence, or want to make people enthusiastic about »Industry 4.0« as a new work environment: The focus is always on higher quantities of data and faster networks, and less on people. This is all supposed to be something new; »digital« has become a synonym for »modern«.

But: is this true? Has it really only just started now? What will the future be like? Will we manage to put human beings at the center of the digital world? Prof. Dr. Peter A. Henning is Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science and Business Informatics at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences - Technology and Economics and Head of the Institute for Computers in Education. In his lecture the attempt is made to answer these questions in a – somewhat – fairy-tale narrative.
