»A maker like few« – the ZKM mourns Walter Fink
The entrepreneur Walter Fink was not only co-founder of the Rheingau Music Festival, but also shaped the promotion of electroacoustic music at the ZKM. From 2009, he donated the Walter Fink Award for dance, electronic music and media.
In 2009, the ZKM Walter Fink Award for dance, electronic music and media was awarded for the first time. The production prize for the technically innovative combination of choreography and sound was aimed at composers, choreographers, dancers and stage designers.
Walter Fink was not only the founder of the award, but also a committed member of the jury with his wife: »Walter Fink enabled the ZKM not only through his generosity to carry out the Walter Fink Award for electroacoustic music, dance and media, but he also participated, together with his wife Renate Czesla-Fink, actively in the vision of the award and the discussion in the jury,« says Ludger Brümmer, Head of Hertz-Lab at the ZKM | Karlsruhe and Professor of Composition in Digital Media, Trossingen University of Music.
