Hans G Helms: Composing at the Border between Language and Music

Hans G Helms (*1932) is an experimental poet and composer, linguist and socially critical author. He was a student of Siegfried Kracauer and Jürgen Kucynski and he published numerous internationally recognized texts, among them »Die Ideologie der anonymen Gesellschaft« [The ideology of the anonymous society] (1966), »Fetisch Revolution« (1968), »Die Stadt als Gabentisch« [The city as a table of presents] (1992), »Musik zwischen Geschäft und Unwahrheit« [Music between business and fiction] (2001), as well as scientific shows in German for international radio and TV stations. His work comprises concerts, lectures, seminars, and course programs at universities, conservatories, and cultural institutes. From 1976 to 1978, Hans G Helms was a guest professor in the U.S. In 1959, he published a work with the code-like title Fa: m'Ahniesgwow. It is neither literature nor music and owes its polyglot material to the immediate post World War II era, which was still dominated by the voices of anti-Semitism and Nazism.
