The installation “TBA21 Sound Space” is derived from the project “The Morning Line” initiated by Francesca von Habsburg Thyssen-Bornemisza. Originally, the work comprised an architectural object and a loudspeaker installation, and can presently be seen in Vienna, in Schwarzenbergplatz (until June 6, 2012).
In the version as presented at the ZKM, six of the installation’s spaces are simulated by 44 loudspeakers; four small “dome-like” parcels and two portals may be musically experienced in the ZKM_Foyer. Thirty one composers have been commissioned for the project to compose special spatial compositions, among others Christian Fennesz, Carsten Nicolai, Terre Thaemlitz, Yasunao Tone and Chris Watson. Each of the compositions lasts 30 minutes, and will be made audible during the day at the ZKM_Foyer after the exhibition’s opening.
The exhibition is to be opened by the project’s initiator, Francesca von Habsburg Thyssen-Bornemisza.
