Open Data Day
Sat, March 03, 2018 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm CET
- Location
- OpenHUB, Atrium 8+9
As part of the »Open Data Day«, the Open Knowledge Lab Karlsruhe is inviting you to the »Open Codes« exhibition and to exchange views on open data – the key resources for social and economic activity in the digital era.
Events relating to open data are taking place all over the world on March 2018 – and in Karlsruhe as well. Open data, not just from public authorities, and the tools to evaluate it create transparency and facilitate democratic participation thorough informed, social decision-making. For the fourth time, the Open Knowledge Lab Karlsruhe is inviting interested participants to acquaint themselves with the subject and exchange ideas to support this.
Irrespective of age and technical abilities, anyone can participate in the »Open Data Day«, whether you have never heard of open data or have been familiar with it for years.
We are kicking off the »Open Data Day« at 2 pm with an introduction into the world of open data. Then, we will hold a brief work exhibition to show what was created in the first two workshops from our range of workshops at the ZKM and how data can be recorded, located and used. Other projects from last year, such as the Transparency Portal by the city of Karlsruhe and the »wo-ist-markt« website, will also be presented. Following this and also throughout the presentations, participants will be able to ask questions, discuss issues and learn new things together.
The »Open Data Day« is a campaign day, for which local groups are setting up organized events. Internationally, »Open Data Day« will see about 300 events hosted in over 50 countries.
