Earthbound

»Earthbound« describes someone or something located on or restricted to the surface of the Earth. It literally means »stuck in the soil«. No matter how far we can get with space travel, we will always be earthbound creatures, reliant on that which can grow and come from the soil. »Earthbound« implies therefore boundaries to our human existence, and contradicts the modern paradigms of the separation of a human sphere (»culture«) from the Earth they inhabit (»nature«), and of unlimited growth and progress relying on the idea that there are endless resources.
