Music – Listened to and Interpreted Differently

Thu, September 05, 2019 6:00 pm CEST

Location
Media Lounge

In the lecture »Music – Listened to and Interpreted Differently« Rudolf Frisius talks about the world of sounds and their transformations.

Rudolf Frisius is a mathematician, philosopher and musicologist. He has been involved with New Music since 1959. Important composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen, Pierre Boulez and György Ligeti have already worked with him. In radio contributions and publications he elaborates on numerous aspects of music.

In his lecture »Music – Listened to and Interpreted Differently«, both everyday sounds and the sounds of music are examined. His focus is on contrasting lifelike sounds with synthetic sounds and thus investigating how hearing has changed under the influence of technical media.
The lecture will be accompanied by audio examples and sound montages that lead to sound movements and sound processes.
