Pablo Held Trio

For almost a decade and a half the trio has been regarded as one of the most lively and significant younger formations of the German jazz scene. For some time now the Trio has also been one of the outstanding representatives of European jazz on an international level.

The pianist Pablo Held, who was born in 1986 and has received many awards, and his congenial comrades-in-arms Robert Landfermann and Jonas Burgwinkel got to know each other at the Cologne Musikhochschule and combine tradition and avant-garde, the familiar and the unknown with subtlety and passionate energy. The Pablo Held Trio transcends the boundaries between composition and improvisation by refraining in its concerts from making any decisions - such as a sequence of themes and a predetermined way of presenting them. The risk of radical spontaneity has given the trio wings for years, supported by friendship and a common creative will to constantly break new ground. Colleagues like guitarist John Scofield have long recognized: »One of the great groups in music today«.
