Bubbles
Wolfgang Münch, Kiyoshi Furukawa – 2000
Virtual soap bubbles slowly float down from above. Players can interact with them using the shadows of their own bodies to create delicate sounds.
When the game was created in 2000, interacting with a computer through simple body movements was still an unusual experience. The process of coordinating the position of the shadow with the position of the virtual soap bubble in real time using automatic image recognition was developed specifically for »Bubbles« . This type of motion control first appeared in the gaming world in 2003 with the EyeToy camera (PlayStation 2).
»Bubbles« was created as part of ZKM's Artists-in-Residence program.
