What will work of the day after tommorow look like? To what extent will new professions, activities and now unimaginable uses of technology influence the distribution and organisation of work as well as social structures?
The BMBF-funded joint project FutureWork dares to take a look to the beginning of the next century: With the help of scientific, literary and artistic resources from labour research and futurology as well as science fiction, researchers are developing scenarios that describe future working worlds. By developing the scenarios, the project contributes to the public discussion process in science, society, economy and politics. New perspectives on the role of work are introduced that support constructive, reflective and critical planning of our future world of work.
The opening of the two-day conference will be marked by a panel discussion at the ZKM that will adress the tense relationship between art and work futures and questions how artists envision our futures. The ZKM is a partner of the event organised by the ZAK | Zentrum für Angewandte Kulturwissenschaft und Studium Generale (KIT).
The conference will continue on Saturday, September 18, 2021 with a public symposium at the IHK Karlsruhe.
