Coding da Vinci Kick-Off
Germany's most successful hackathon for open cultural data
Sat, May 07 – Sun, May 08, 2022
- Location
- ZKM | Center for Art and Media
- Online
Coding da Vinci, the cultural hackathon, links the worlds of culture and technology. In 2022, Coding da Vinci will come to Baden-Württemberg and show once again the surprising possibilities that open cultural data can provide.
You are skilled in software development, graphic applications or design, you hack, are an artist, create games, work in media or are simply interested in culture and want to develop new ideas with like-minded people? If so, Coding da Vinci Baden-Württemberg 2022 offers you the chance to get in touch with cultural institutions from your region to design new approaches to our digital cultural heritage: with apps, websites, VR/AR implementations, interactive installations, data visualizations or whatever else you can think of.
How does Coding da Vinci work?
Kick-Off Event
At the kick-off event on May 7 and 8, 2022 at the ZKM Karlsruhe and online, representatives of the cultural institutions will present their data sets, explain their background and technical details, and answer your questions. Afterwards, the stage is set for your project ideas: present your ideas and form teams with other participants. For the rest of the weekend, you will work on project ideas in your teams and together with the representatives of the cultural institutions, forge plans and hack together!
Sprint period and project development
After the kick-off, you have seven weeks to develop your projects. The organization of coordination and meetings in your teams is up to you. During this time, Coding da Vinci offers you the opportunity to participate in cross-team meetups as well as input sessions with experts from the various fields and to exchange ideas.
Award ceremony
On June 24, 2022, the award ceremony will take place in the Dürnitz Kulturlounge at the Landesmuseum Württemberg in Stuttgart. The teams will present their projects to the jury and the audience and the best projects of each category will be awarded.
