Anna-Lena Meiners

Anna-Lena Meiners is a PhD researcher in the research group Human-Computer Interaction and Accessibility at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and does research in the field of HCI with a focus on Aesthetics and Accessibility. The goal of her research is to understand diverse user needs and preferences to create enriching and empowering interactions with technology. She therefore dissects relationships between UX quality factors and contexts of use with a special focus on aesthetic aspects beyond pleasing optics. Her multi-disciplinary background heavily inspires Anna-Lena's research as well as her preference for theoretically grounded studies. At KIT, she is involved with the Real-World Lab Accessibility.

Anna-Lena holds a B.A. in Theatre Studies, Philosophy, and Dutch Language and Literature from Free University Berlin as well as a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in Computer Science and Digital Media with an HCI major from University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer. Before starting her PhD at KIT, she has worked as a product owner and project manager in web development, a lecturer in Media Science and Media Critique, and as a PR professional and producer for various cultural events and organizations.
