New Media Art Archiving Network
The ongoing project »New Media Art Archiving Network« is an international initiative for the preservation and networking of media art archives. Since 2020, various players in the media art scene have joined forces to explore and promote innovative approaches to archiving digital and interactive art forms. The project includes a series of summits and workshops that take place annually at the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) and independently of it at the project partners. The goal of the project is to create a sustainable, interdisciplinary platform for the exchange of knowledge and strategies to promote the archiving of media art at the international level. Particular attention is paid to the use of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and advanced metadata standards to optimize the accessibility and interconnectivity of archival materials.
Key aspects of the project
- Knowledge and experience sharing: The exchange between archivists, scientists, artists and other professionals will be fostered through summits and workshops. These events will provide a space for discussing best practices, technological challenges and future-oriented solutions in the field of media art archiving.
- Archive networking: A core objective of the project is to develop a global network of media art archives. By connecting archives across different countries and institutions, the sharing of resources and data will be facilitated.
- This project aims not only to make the work of the participating archives visible, but also to develop innovative solutions to ensure the future of media art archiving.
