Studied history and literature, doctorate in literary studies, 1984-86 lecturer at Oxford University, 1989 curator at the Technoseum Mannheim, 1991-93 lecturer at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, from 2006 at the University of Karlsruhe, there 2008 habilitation in history of technology, from 2011 teaching as adjunct professor, retired. Publications on historical and literary topics with a focus on mobility and military history, essays and literary texts.
