Disappearing Dialogues

Biography

The Disappearing Dialogues (dD) collective is a dynamic platform that engages diverse communities, institutions, social groups, and generations through interactive transdisciplinary practices, research, documentation, and collaborative activities. It is led by Nobina Gupata, the founder-director of the collective in collaboration of local young minds, passions, and artistic spaces, whose goal is to add value and support the preservation of the existing heritage, culture, and environment of regions that are slowly but surely disintegrating. The collective works at the intersection of art, ecology, education, and conservation, currently primarily in the East Kolkata Wetlands.

Focusing on process, practice, and everyday life, the Disappearing Dialogues project (dD) in the past few years has amplified the voices of the East Kolkata Wetlands community to uphold its traditional practices on various national and international platforms. Archiving the wetland ecosystem, addressing the socio-spatial realities, its mission is to catalyse environmental conservation and develop wetland ambassadors using creative methodologies, empowering and enriching communities across to jointly work for sustainability and climate resilience.
