Biography

Giuseppe Pisano is a composer of acousmatic music. His work is broadly concerned with the investigation of space and its employment as a compositional tool in conjunction with immersive audio technologies. As a performer, he is known as an electroacoustic improvisor and an Acousmonium interpreter. Pisano studied acousmatic music composition with Prof. Elio Martusciello at the Naples Conservatory of Music and extended his studies at the University of Oslo with Prof. Natasha Barrett in immersive audio and spatial sound techniques. He is currently a PhD candidate at the Norwegian Academy of Music.

He has worked at Ina GRM, EMS Stockholm, Norwegian Academy of Music, Tbilisi State Conservatory, and City University of Hong Kong, where he collaborated to develop a methodology for designing and building DIY Ambisonics speaker systems for the Open Ambisonics Toolkit.

Pisano’s music has been included in the programs of many concerts and festivals in different organizations and institutions, including Notam (Oslo), IAC / Intonal Festival (Malmö), KMH (Stockholm), VERV (Venice), WFS & The Game of Life Foundation (The Hague), Lydgalleriet (Bergen), EMU Fest (Rome). In addition to that, he has been playing concerts and curated programs for the music group Electric Audio Unit in Norway and the organisation Audiorama in Stockholm.
