Biography
Jessica Menger, M.A., worked in the curatorial department at the ZKM | Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe from 2020 to 2022. As a curatorial assistant, she was involved in the exhibition "Critical Zones: Observatories for Earthly Politics" (2020–2021). She was primarily responsible, together with Barbara Kiolbassa, for the conception of the activation program. Menger is also the project coordinator of the media art festival "Seasons of Media Arts" and organized the presentation of Chiharu Shiota's installation "Connected to Life." Interested in transformation processes in cultural institutions, she completed further training as a transformation manager for sustainable culture at the Action Network for Sustainability. She earned her bachelor's degree in "Art, Music & Media: Organization and Mediation" at Philipps University in Marburg, followed by a Master's degree at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. Since 2023, she has been a lecturer at the university in the master's program "International Media Cultural Work," teaching a course titled "Cultural Institutions in the Climate Crisis: Sustainability Management and Artistic Practices Using the Example of Museums." She also works as a freelance transformation manager in sustainable culture and has collaborated with the Goethe Institute in Prague and the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, among others.
