Theresia Bauer has been Baden-Württemberg's Minister of Science, Research and the Arts since 12 May 2011. She represents important key areas of Baden-Württemberg politics. She has been voted "Science Minister of the Year" three times by the members of the German University Association.
In 1985 she began her master's degree in political science, economics and German studies at the Universities of Heidelberg and Mannheim, which she graduated from in 1993. Between 1993 and 2001, Theresia Bauer was a lecturer for political education in the Society for Political Ecology and subsequently managing director of the Heinrich Böll Foundation Baden-Württemberg. She has been a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament since 2001.
