Biography

SAM•ComputerStudio (Studio for Applied Music Technology) of the University of Music Karlsruhe (HfM Karlsruhe) offers comprehensive opportunities for the application of computer, audio, video, and media technology in music and media art and thus constitutes a central institution of the university in terms of research into the realization and production of contemporary technology-aided musical practice, as well as of artistic and scientific engagement with music and media art today. Music Informatics at the IMWI | Institute for Music Informatics and Musicology engages with music, in the diversity of its forms and practices, through artistic practice and research, situating musical work within the dynamic interplay of technological developments and their societal resonances. The bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at the IMWI | Institute for Music Informatics and Musicology operate at the intersection of the sciences and the humanities, technology, creativity, and critical reflection. The six-semester bachelor’s degree program offers a unique combination of Music Informatics and Musicology. In addition, Music Informatics and Musicology are each offered as advanced four-semester master’s degree programs.
