Karla Kniep
Biography
Karla Kniep (b. 1997) studied at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design from 2016 to 2025. During her studies, she gained practical experience in various fields of design, including an internship in 2019 at the advertising agency Bruce.B in Stuttgart and another internship in 2021–2022 at Heimann+Schwantes in Berlin. She also worked in public relations for the HfG Karlsruhe.
Her work focuses on research-based projects. She places particular importance on the connection to nature and an intensive exploration of materials and their origins. Her design practice combines analytical research with illustrative elements and the development of fantastical, often speculative worlds. This results in works that interlink scientific, narrative, and visual levels and open up new perspectives on ecological and material contexts.
