Vardan Harutyunyan
Biography
Vardan Harutyunyan, born in Yerevan in 1987, is a composer and sound artist with particular interest in field recordings and collaborations with visual artists. A graduate of the Yerevan State Conservatory in composition, he works across academic, electronic, and electro-acoustic music, currently focusing on resonance and frequency research. He has led and curated projects including SoundLab Gyumri and the Contemporary Sound Orchestra Yerevan. His works have been presented at numerous art centres in Armenia and internationally. Collaborations connect him with musicians such as Bambir and Arto Tunçboyacıyan with Kamarama. Harutyunyan also performs as a classical pianist and studies music therapy. His audiovisual installations combine natural soundscapes with musical recordings using his overtone technique, exploring the interplay among home, nature, and the human body through sound and space as a research-based exploration of acoustic phenomena and their spatial-bodily effects.
