- With texts bearing programmatic titles, such as lnto the »Universe of Technical Images« and »Towards a Philosophy of Photography«, Vilém Flusser (1920-1991) became one of the most influential thinkers on communication and media in the latter decades of the twentieth century. In a supremely positive way he took up the challenge of rethinking the arts in view of the fact that our lives have become highly influenced and determined by technology. His particular variant of anthropology sought to forge a link between scientific methods and a new understanding of culture.
