ZKM presents hanging garden in the federal state representation of Baden-Württemberg in Berlin

Before the political summer break in Berlin, representatives of state and federal politics met at the federal state representation of Baden-Württemberg in Berlin. This year again, the ZKM and the city of Karlsruhe were present.

Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann, host of the 55th Stallwächterparty, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who gave a greeting, as well as numerous guests enjoyed the interactive ZKM installation »Akousmaflore« by Scenocosme. The hanging plants react to the visitors' touches. Scenocosme is also present in the new ZKM exhibition »Art in Motion. 100 Masterpieces with and through Media«

Guido Wolf, Minister of Justice of the State of Baden-Württemberg, Thomas Strobl, Minister of the Interior, Petra Olschowski, State Secretary, Robert Habeck, Federal Chairman of the Greens, Nils Schmid, Member of the Bundestag, and Holger Hanselka, President of KIT, were represented. Peter Weibel, Artistic-Scientific Chairmen and Christiane Riedel, Chief Operating Officer of the ZKM, were also present. 

Since 1964, the representation of the state of Baden-Württemberg has been organizng the traditional political summer festival. In 2018, the motto of the festival is »ARTEN VIELFALT LEBEN« [Living biodiversity]. Around 1,500 guests from politics, media, business, science and culture were welcomed in the entire house by natural tones from the Animal Sound Archive of the Museum of Natural History Berlin. With the »Akousmaflore« installation, the ZKM was able to fit in very well with the theme of the summer festival.
