Company Drinks
Biography
Company Drinks is an east London based community drinks enterprise that started as a public art project in 2024, and was set up by Kathrin Böhm from Myvillages.
Today Company Drinks is both a cultural enterprise and community centre, practicing and connecting the two meanings of the word company (social and enterprise).
Company Drinks has its permanent base in Barking Park, and the pavilion and garden are co-used with the Dandelion Circles, a collective of local community groups.
Company Drinks is both super local, and at home across art worlds. Since 2014 Company Drinks runs a bar at Frieze Art Fair, and has partnered with Serpentine Galleries, Southbank Centre and Barbican to run public bars and events. Collaborative drinks have been made with The Whitworth Gallery Manchester, CCA Glasgow and MIMA Middlesborough. Company Drinks is regularly included in exhibitions such as “Making use” at the Museum for Contemporary Art Warsaw, “Making of the Countryside” at Compton Verney Museum and Galleries, and “Food: Bigger than the Plate” at the V&A Museum London.
Company Drinks addresses the relationship between art and economy through commissions, publications and public events. The “Center for Plausible Economies” at Company Drinks was set up in 2018 by Kathrin Böhm and Kuba Szreder.
The three co-directors of Company Drinks are Kathrin Böhm, Seema Manchanda, and Shaun Tuck.
