Helen Pynor
Biography
Helen Pynor (*1964, Sydney, AU) lives and works on Gadigal Land, Sydney. She studied cell and molecular biology at Macquarie University, visual arts at Sydney College of the Arts, The University of Sydney, and she completed a practice-based PhD in visual arts at Sydney College of the Arts. As an artist and researcher, she explores the ambiguous boundaries such as life /death, animate/inanimate and human/non-human. Her practice spans installation, sculpture, photography, video, sound, microscopy and performance, often working with living and “semi-living” biological entities such as bones, organs, cells and biomolecules such as DNA.
