Nina Davies
Biography
Nina Davies (b. 1991) is a Canadian-British artist whose work considers the present moment through an examination of how dance in popular culture is disseminated, circulated, produced, and consumed. Initially grounded in academic research and legal analysis, her practice has evolved to incorporate fiction as a critical method. She reimagines contemporary dance forms as traditional practices of the future, situating movement within broader socio-technical contexts. Through this approach, her work develops frameworks for understanding dance as something that acts upon and within the world.
Her work has recently been exhibited at Galerie Rudolfinum, Prague; Henry Moore Institute, Leeds; Aksioma, Ljubljana; FACT, Liverpool; Western Front, Vancouver; and Artspace.
In 2021, she co-founded Future Artefacts FM, an artist-run broadcast programme showcasing artists working with speculative fiction. She co-hosts the programme with artist Niamh Schmidtke and curator Rebecca Edwards.
