Get to know the Federal Archives concentrated on nine square meters, multimedia and interactive – from 05.01. to 13.02.2022, the traveling exhibition of the Federal Archives is a guest at the ZKM!
On the occasion of the transfer of responsibility of the Stasi documents archive to the Federal Archives on June 17, 2021, the exhibition »Geschichte und Erinnerung«, created in cooperation with the agency »musealis GmbH«, aims to make the transition process, the tasks as well as the challenges of the Federal Archives understandable. From short film clips and interviews with staff members to interactive games, the mobile, accessible cube of the touring exhibition offers an insight into the so-called »memory of the nation«.
On an exciting journey of discovery, visitors get to know the people of the Federal Archives and the four core values that determine the work and the self-image of the institution: Responsibility, Trust, Reliability and Openness. They also get numerous insights into the stacks and studios, can guess handwritings of famous people or look back into the past. Whether one can find documents about one's own family in the Federal Archives and whether »fake news« can be tracked down on the basis of historical sources are just two of many other questions that visitors can get to the bottom of in the exhibition.
The Federal Archives on Tour
The exhibition will be on tour from June 17, 2021 to July 15, 2022 at 20 locations in various German cities, including Berlin, Dresden, Karlsruhe, Leipzig, Munich and, of course, at the Federal Archives' main office in Koblenz. Several cubes will be on the road at the same time.
