Open Hertzlab: Technology and participation
How AI can help shape our democracy
Fri, July 18, 2025 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm CEST
In the age of artificial intelligence, what can social participation look like? What spaces are necessary for productive debate? Can technologies such as language or image generators support democratic dialogue?
At the Open Hertzlab, we invite you to experiment with new forms of participation. In an open, experimental setting, we explore the relationship between traditional moderation techniques and contemporary AI tools. Together, we will explore how technology can shape citizen participation — playfully, critically, and creatively.
How do large language models such as ChatGPT, xAI, and DeepSeek respond to questions about urban development? What happens when we use AI image generators to create a picture of a livable city? Traditional participation methods will be combined with digital tools at several interactive stations, with the ultimate goal of offering new perspectives on participation and democracy.
Join us to experiment and discuss the technologies of the future.
Meeting point: 2nd floor above Atrium 9 - access via the exhibitions
