”IMATRONIC extended”, hosted by ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics (IMA), is one of the largest festivals in Germany that presents and awards contemporary developments in electronic music.
Belonging to the highlights of the festival are the awarding of the 2012 Giga-Hertz-Prizes for young composers, as well as concert premiers by former recipients of the ZKM Walter-Fink prize for dance, electroacoustic music and media.

A special focal point this year is presented by the Symposium “Neuroaesthetics”, in which the creative potential of human brain functions is explored for its own artistic or musical qualities.
In the series PIANO+ the theme is the connection between piano, electronic music and media extensions, to which the IMA has explicitly dedicated itself in recent years. Also this year, in the curatorial series by Catherine Vickers, central positions of contemporary piano literature are performed and premiered.
