GLOBALE: Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra

The Little Giant Chamber Orchestra has been invited to Karlsruhe to perform at the city’s anniversary celebrations. This is its second appearance at the ZKM. The »Taiwan Contemporary« concert contrasts new compositions played on electronic and old instruments with classical Chinese pieces — and is an opportunity to hear a very rare musical experiment.

The Taiwanese orchestra was founded in October 2000 by Chih-Sheng Chen. It represents a new generation of Chinese orchestral music, while seeking to revitalize a historic art form. The orchestra’s repertoire includes both traditional Chinese works and compositions by contemporary Chinese and Taiwanese composers.
