As part of the event series »Stockhausen at 90«, the ZKM will show a screening of the live performance recording of »LICHT-BILDER« [LIGHT PICTURES] and of the interview between Karlheinz Stockhausen and Prof. Ludger Brümmer, head of the ZKM | Music and Acoustics Institute.

The seven-part opera cycle »LICHT« [LIGHT] by Karlheinz Stockhausen offers more than 29 hours of music. The composer worked on this project – probably the biggest in music history – beginning in 1977. In his opus, Stockhausen created a gigantic representation of the seven days of the week. The concluding piece of this series is the work »LICHT-BILDER«, which Stockhausen completed in June 2003.

After its successful première at the Donaueschingen Festival 2004, for which part of the musical performance was developed at the ZKM | Music and Acoustics Institute, the finale of Stockhausen’s cycle was presented at the ZKM | Karlsruhe in December 2004.
