Artists at Risk
Fri, September 06, 2019 5 pm CEST, Lecture

Marita Muukkonen and Ivor Stodolsky are co-founders of »Artists at Risk« (AR), an international program that works at the intersection of human rights and art.

In many parts of the world, artists, curators, critics and scientists are the targets of politically motivated threats and persecution. »Perpetuum Mobile« initiated »Artists at Risk« as a platform and network to help artists in times of need. Support includes enabling safe emigration from the countries of origin, obtaining travel documents and legal assistance. The artists are accommodated in »AR residences« and projects such as the »AR Pavilion« are curated.

The AR network includes a growing number of local nodes: currently there are approximately ten former, operational or future AR residences. Within this framework, the freelance curator Barış Seyitvan from Diyarbakir is currently having a residency at the ZKM for a period of three months.

After the presentation, the vernissage of the exhibition »Di bin ezmanekî de | Under the Same Sky« will take place at Luis Leu, Luisenstraße 32 (Südstadt), curated by Baris Seyitvan and Barbara Kiolbassa.

Please note: The lecture will be held in English.
