A scientific-musical dialogue on mind, thinking, ethics and aesthetics as part of the anniversary year project »Die Würde - wessen?« of KlangForum Heidelberg e.V. with world premieres by Ludger Brümmer (ZKM) and Orm Finnendahl (HfMDK Frankfurt) as well as other works.
Musicologist and journalist Martina Seeber will moderate the evening.
On several levels, KlangForum Heidelberg e.V.'s current program of its ensembles, part of the year-round event series »Die Würde - wessen?«, addresses the encounter of mind, dignity and the image of man with methods and perspectives of technical, informational and artificial intelligence. With works by Josquin des Prèz and Antoine Brumel from the Renaissance (as the epoch of the shaping of the modern concept of human dignity), the multi-award-winning vocal ensemble SCHOLA HEIDELBERG offers context and reference for new, partly premiered pieces for voices, instruments and live electronics by Orm Finnendahl (HfMDK Frankfurt), Ludger Brümmer (ZKM | Karlsruhe), but also for classical avant-garde works by Karlheinz Stockhausen and Iannis Xenakis, whose 100th birthday is to be celebrated this year.
Gottfried Michael Koenig, another grandmaster of the 20th-century avant-garde, who was influenced by information technology and 'stochasticism', will be commemorated on the occasion of his death in December 2021 by performing a multi-channel electronic work (in the sound direction of his student and trustee Kees Tazelaar of the Instituut voor Sonologie in The Hague); it will be contrasted by an analog instrumental work by Xenakis', composed as early as 1962 by means of an IBM computer. Johann Sebastian Bach's motet »Der Geist hilft unser Schwachheit auf« also brings a worldly-transcendental concept of mind into play and exposes the interrelationship of compositional, compositional, and creative intelligence from another historical perspective.
»Künstliche Intelligenz und das Seufzen der Kultur? - Von Geist und Transhumanismus« thus addresses, through mutual references and reflections, the comprehensive capacity of the creative mind, humanistic or technological, to culturally appropriate the world.
»Künstliche Intelligenz und das Seufzen der Kultur? - Von Geist und Transhumanismus« thus addresses, through mutual references and reflections, the comprehensive capacity of the creative spirit, be it humanistically or technologically influenced, for the cultural appropriation of the world. The interdisciplinary exchange between science and art, technology and aesthetics is the implicit basis of all the compositions performed here and also the subject of the introduction by the mathematician Vincent Heuveline of the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS) as well as a panel discussion together with the composers of the world premieres.
An event of the ZKM | Hertz-Labor in cooperation with the KlangForum Heidelberg under the direction of Ekkehard Windrich and Walter Nußbaum.
